Watch Roberto Aguayo hit a 55-yard field goal
Aguayo continues to nail kicks in practice.
When Roberto Aguayo struggled last year, it was usually from long range. In fact, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ then-rookie hit no field goals from further than 43 yards, while he was near-perfect from shorter distances late in the season. Plenty of reason to be concerned about the strength and accuracy of his kicks, then.
Thankfully, Aguayo has been much better this offseason. Even from long ranges, as this kick from 55 yards demonstrates.

That’s far from the first long-range field goal Aguayo has hit this offseason, and certainly won’t be the last. In fact, it seems like he’s mostly over his long-range issues, at least in practice.
That’s a relief, especially because long-range accuracy has been an issue for Aguayo dating back to college. He was famously perfect from within 40 yards—something he wasn’t as a rookie in the NFL, notably—but struggled a lot more from longer distances. Now, those kicks are more difficult in college due to the angles involved, but that still carried over into the NFL.
All of which combines to make it pretty reassuring to see Aguayo hitting these kicks in practice. Good stuff.
