Receiver-to-receiver beats the Bucs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently in the process of getting blown out by the Atlanta Falcons. Midway through the second quarter, the Bucs are down 17-3, thanks to two Julio Jones touchdowns.

Unsurprisingly, the Bucs defense looks outmatched against Matt Ryan. Slightly surprisingly, they also look outmatched against Mohamed Sanu. The wide receiver threw the Falcons’ first touchdown, on a ridiculous 51-yard bomb to Julio Jones.

That’s not a good luck by rookie safety Justin Evans, who seems to lose the ball in the air. It’s a decently thrown ball and winning jump balls with Julio Jones isn’t easy, of course, but Evans isn’t really making Jones work for ik—a shame, because Evans was having an outstanding game otherwise. We’ll chalk this up to inexperience, I guess.

In other news, the Bucs are basically throwing away their last chance at a playoff spot, here. It was already highly unlikely to happen, even with a win, but if they can’t beat the Falcons, they’re done for. They still have about 60% of a game to fix that, though.
