Spoiler: McCoy’s still really good.

Gerald McCoy is good. Really good. And he’s been wrecking the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line throughout the second preseason game. He looks like he’s in All-Pro form again.

Plays like that are just beautiful to watch, and exactly why Gerald McCoy is one of the best defensive tackles in the league. With Chris Baker and Clinton McDonald next to him, the Bucs have a very good group of defensive tackles.

But McCoy’s problem throughout his career hasn’t been a lack of good play, nor has it been a lack of good defensive tackles: it’s been the lack of an edge rush to support his play. One defensive tackle can only do so much.

So far in preseason, that edge rush has been a bit lacking. Noah Spence has been promising, but not the wrecking ball the Bucs hope he can become and they’ve supposedly seen in training camp. Hopefully, Spence and co. will show up in the regular season so yet another good McCoy season doesn’t go to waste.
