Ronde Barber, John Lynch and Simeon Rice named Hall of Fame semi-finalists
They’re one step closer to the actual Hall of Fame.
Lynch has made it to the semi-final for years on end, and even made it to the finalist group for the last four years in a row. Unfortunately, he keeps getting bumped at the last minute. Perhaps things will be different this year.
Barber hasn’t made it to the finalists yet, mostly because this is his first year of eligibility. The former cornerback deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, but it’s going to be difficult for him to get there. With Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks already in there and John Lynch making it to the finalists every year, the Bucs already have a lot of players from the same team in or close to the Hall of Fame, and the folks making these selections don’t like rewarding many players from a single defense.
Intriguingly, this is also the first time Simeon Rice has made it this far. The former Bucs defensive end has been overlooked for years and almost certainly won’t make it into the Hall of Fame, at least not this year, but it’s good to see him making a bit of progress.
