The Bucs 2016 second-round pick is kicking himself out of the NFL.

Roberto Aguayo’s redemption tour was stopped short after just two kicks, with a doink. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker hit the goalpost on an extra point, just his second in-game kick of 2017—and we’re not even into the regular season.

Aguayo struggled with accuracy all of last season as a second-round pick, though he did get better toward the end. He seemed to be doing okay this offseason, keeping up with Nick Folk who the Bucs brought in to compete with Aguayo. But then Aguayo missed an extra point, sooooo…..

To be fair, it’s just one kick, and extra points are no longer entirely automatic. Bad kicks happen to every kicker, and a doink off the goalposts means he wasn’t shanking it. But it’s hard not to see this as a breaking point, given Aguayo’s history.

Which means that unless Aguayo turns things around really quickly, the Bucs will have wasted that trade up into the second round last year. Oops.
