Gasparilla Pirate Festival 2018
It is the time of the year when all the Tampa Bay gets reunited to celebrate the annual Gasparilla pirate festival, one of the most important festival of the city and one of the biggest too. Pirates are a very important statement of the city as it was in the past when the Pirate Jose Gaspar AKA Gasparilla operated in Southwest Florida in the early 1800s. A tradition that hits this January 101 years of unmatched celebration in Florida. The festival is now sponsored by several brands that make it possible to create incredible parades as well as concerts, bar parties and kid-friendly events like the Extravaganza parade.
The celebration is a big tradition for citizens of the Tampa Bay, everyone wears pirate costumes and get their hands ready to catch colorful beats and some other stuff from the decorated cars at the parade.
This is definitely an event that you won’t want to miss, so get ready to grab your pirate costume and head downtown Tampa on Saturday, January 27, take a look of the event schedule this year:
10 a.m. – 8 p.m. – Pirate Fest with stage locations at Curtis Hixon Park (Ashley Dr. and Zack St.); MacDill Park (Ashley Dr. and Whiting St.); Tampa Convention Center (Sail Pavilion); and Ferg’s Live (Channelside and Nebraska)
10 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Gasparilla Invasion Brunch at the Tampa Convention Center
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Gasparilla Flotilla and Invasion at the Tampa Convention Center
2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Parade of the Pirates Bayshore Blvd. from Bay-to-Bay north into downtown Tampa, ending at Ashley Drive and Cass Street
Have in mind that some of the events like the brunch are required to purchase a ticket prior to the event, so go fast to get them because they are in demand.
